Many other in same boat

I have got email from my colleagues in IITK, have been told verbally by them about almost same experience with ABN-AMRO. So, three faculty members have told me about similar experience, where they have dropped the cheque in ABN-AMRO drop box, the cheques are lost or debited from bank accounts, but never credited to the credit card account. Thus, resulting in heavy penalty and interest. All of these colleauges are still wasting their time writing to ABN-AMRO for solutions. Probably, I was luckiest of them.

My humble suggestion to all ABM-AMRO credit card holders is to Surrender your Credit Card to bank as soon as possible. I had a worst experience with them.
When they offered me their credit card, they said that there is no annual fee but a year later thar charged me around Rs 3500. They said that card fee is 0 but they are charging other expenses(amount that bank pays to shopping mall etc...I don't know what is that).
They sent me a Easy Pay cheque( Rs 36000) without any request from my side. They were charging annual interest of 36% on that amount.
I returened the cheque to bank still they charged me processing fee and some interest.

Later I sent a request to cancel the processing fee etc, but they denied.
So i was supposed to pay around Rs 2000 w/o using card and had to bear the hassle of cancelling the Easy pay cheque etc. Also they have warned me for taking legal actions.

You may be cheated any time so better to stay away from such banks.

For the last 3 months I am getting my monthly statement. I think ABN AMRO is doing this deliberetly to charge late Fee, Interest etc.
I am sending them e-,ails, talking with their customer service executives but no result. It is hopeless situation noow.
I shall surrender my card immedietly.

I had a worst experience of ABN amro credit card, I ve cancalled the card in the year 2007,still the cheque was presented by the bank for Rs.2000/- the cheque was issued by me, without dated to the bank collection agency two years before, through oversight I ve forgotten to write the date on that cheque, later on that cheque was misplaced by them, and taken replacement of that cheque.Unfortunately I hv forgotten to give stop payment instructions to my bank for the earlier cheque number.So the same cheque was presented by the bank after two years. Neighter i m holding their card more than 15 months, nor having any business relations with the bank

I have a card from ABN AMRO, too, and the problems, as well. They called me say that my card is being upgraded to another level and that it does not cost anything to me. I said ok, and what, in the next bill thet have charged for the new card. After calling them and explaining, I was asked to pay the statement amunt MINUS the new card fee. But to my surprise, in their next statement, they had charged me interest for the card fee as well as for all the purchases made that month. The reason they gave is that the fee waiver came late and that I should bave paid and bill in full and lATER claimed a refund! Bullshit. Yesh, take all our advices, folks, please do not use ABN AMRO credit cards. Surrende the one you already have.
